Happy November! Are you participating in some kind of NaNoWriMo-esque drafting challenge this month?

I personally don't love tracking my accountability by number of words written, but I do love tapping into the energy of so many people in the world 🌍 harnessing their creativity and writing like their fingers are on fire (in a good way!). While I'm not tracking my word count per se, I am pushing myself to carve out as much writing time as I can before the holiday season takes a bite out of my focus.

✨ With that in mind, the Book Dragons have been working on something special for the holiday season! Something joyful to help you feed your creative soul amidst the chaos of December. 😵‍💫 We'll be announcing more about that soon, so keep an eye on your email while and get excited about our upcoming fun, low-touch ways to keep that writing spark aflame.

Last month we celebrated our creative spirits with two events, our Color Outside the Lines Ink Retreat — with our focus on the many ways we can break the rules of writing — and our presentation at the Escape the Plot Forest Summit, where we discussed ways to reframe the murky middle of your book.

Both events were great, and talking about breaking the rules was certainly on my mind a few weeks later when we spoke with author Melissa Lam about her writing process on our podcast, Book Dragon Banter. Speaking of celebrating... a big shout out to one of our community members, Maddi, for finishing up her outline just in time for November. I was in a writing sprint with her when she finalized her outline and the joy on her face was infectious!
