Fall Writing Magic: What's New with Book Dragon Ink

It’s fall! Even better, it’s Prep-Tober for those of us who used to thrive in the writing energy the Fall (and Nanowrimo) brings. Nano may be no more, but the creative spirit is as high as ever.

👉 This is a bit of a longer email than usual because we have a lot to celebrate and share, plus a call for artists/social media managers, but first a quick reminder that we're speaking at two events this weekend and tickets are still available (Color Outside the Lines & Escape the Plot Forest) details and links are below.

But first: Book Dragon Ink has something to celebrate! 🎉

  1. The Inkwrights’ Sabbatical is off to a rumbling good start and we’re feeling the fall writing energy creeping on in! This cohort is in week 5 and we’ve already had some great workshops, 1-1 coaching sessions, and inspiring community hang-outs. We're so excited for the progress our community is making! Some have written their first pages ever for their next books, some are multiple drafts in, and all of us are getting to know our stories and characters in ways we might not have without this group.

  2. Also, our podcast, Book Dragon Banter, hosted several fun panels at Hearthcon, a cozy fantasy convention, earlier this month—check out the replays on Youtube right here. We chatted with authors about the cozy companions in their books, why they cut scenes (and sometimes regret it), and even got to have our morning coffee and tea alongside Meg Hood (Meg's Tea Room) and Dakota Van Linden (Upper Pen Podcast).

Now on to the “goings-on”...

  • We’re feeling a bit rebellious about “writing rules” so we invite you to join us THIS WEEKEND for “Color Outside the Lines.” It’s two days of writing, workshops, and coach access. Saturday & Sunday 12pm–4pm Eastern Time. You can get a pass to one day or both days—here’s more information!
  • We’re also presenting at Daniel David Wallace’s Escape the Plot Forest summit this weekend! Sign up for a free ticket here or upgrade to a VIP pass, get the recordings and support us without spending any extra by using our affiliate link.
  • Katherine's good friend, developmental editor and book coach, Judy L Mohr is offering a mini intensive in November on "Setting as Character." Is anyone else intrigued? Here's a link to purchase your ticket (replay access included, just in case you can't make it live!).

In other news, Book Dragon Ink is on the prowl…for an artist! And a social media manager.

We really don’t enjoy posting content on social media, no matter how much we enjoy our human connections on those platforms. Anyone here want to discuss a trade or pitch your services to us for social media management?

We also have some merch underway for Black Friday, but we want you to reply if any artists in the room want to organize a trade of services or to pitch us your offer. Or let us know if there's a particular item you're hoping we'll be offering 😉.

Your companions in story,
The Book Dragon Ink Team
Sage, Zinzi & Katherine
