Book Dragon Ink

From Manuscript to Masterpiece

You'll be seeing a little less of us in your inbox now that our Inkwrights' Sabbatical is in full swing, but as October approaches we wanted to drop in and tell you about a few upcoming writing events and opportunities...

Every fall, I watch the same thing happen.

October comes to an end. November begins. And a lot of writers sit down to start drafting a novel and realize they have no idea what they're actually going to write.

It's not that they don't have a story. They do. A great one, even... That is, if they could only figure out how to get it out of their head and onto the page.

But never fear: Prep-tober starts here. 🍂✍️🎉

Join us for a 2-day virtual writing retreat: Color Outside the Lines (Oct. 17 & 18), designed to get your story (and your brain) primed before the fall writing season madness begins. Join us and find the tools, community, and momentum you need to walk into November with a plan instead of a panic.

Mini workshops on craft and mindset. Live Q&A with certified book coaches. Writing sprints with a room full of other writers to help you stay accountable. To yourself, and to your story.

Some people come for the workshops. Some come for the coaching. Some just come to feel less alone in the process. In my experience, everyone leaves with something they didn't have before. Be it confidence, a solid plan, or a newfound passion for their work.

Tickets go on sale Monday. Limited seat will be available at the early bird pricing of $15/day. After those first seats are filled, ticket prices will go up.

Other upcoming writing events and resources:

TOMORROW! ➡ Want to give your dialogue a boost? 💬

Katherine's good friend and occasional mentor, Judy L Mohr, is offering a class TOMORROW on one of the stickiest points for many writers—DIALOGUE. Judy is a Developmental Editor, award winning author, and pro sarcasm slinger that Katherine highly recommends learning from. She is only charging USD $20.50 and there will be a recording available to all attendees, so no need to skip your lattes or change your Friday evening plans in order to enjoy this mini intensive.

Live on Zoom: Friday September 25, 2026 at 9pm ET
